CriaMus - Creative Inclusion is the abbreviation of the project titled The Impact of Values and Beliefs on Musical Creativity in the Self-Perception and Creative Agency of Musicians. With support from the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS), we aim to understand how personal and interpersonal values and beliefs about musical creativity impact the self-perception and creative behavior of musicians. Musicians from the five Brazilian regions will be investigated through multi-sited ethnographies and the application of the Musical Creation Lab.

Researchers from the Creativity in Music Studies Group at FURG will conduct field trips and interviews with musicians from various musical backgrounds (such as choro groups, rock and jazz bands, symphony orchestras, among others) and performance settings (such as pubs, street musicians, etc.). We will interview musicians from Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, and Pernambuco.

The Musical Creation Laboratory will be employed at the following institutions: Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), University of São Paulo (USP), and Federal University of Roraima (UFRR). For this, we count on the collaboration of the following professors: Ms. José Santos (UNIPAMPA), Dr. Ana Couto (UFPE), Dr. Mariana Stocchero (UFMS), Dr. Rogério Costa (USP), and Dr. Luiz Junior (UFRR).

The project will enable two innovation proposals:

1- Providing recommendations to teachers and administrators interested in developing creativity in educational environments;

2- Presenting a broader theoretical framework to enable pathways for transdisciplinary understandings of creative behavior.

The results will be disseminated through an E-book, which will be made available for free on this website after the study is completed. Thus, this research will contribute directly to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), axis 4 (Quality Education).
